Quadrant Painting

Image description

"Look, let's see" - exhibition visitors wander through the halls and look at the exhibited works - determined or undecided.

"Where are you?" - impatiently waiting for the two people.

The basic idea behind the arrangement of the motifs was to divide the image area into quadrants, like a dentist would when looking at a set of teeth from the front: quadrant 1 is at the top left,

then clockwise to quadrant 4 at the bottom left.

So the first group is in quadrant 3, the impatient gentleman is in quadrant 1.

Story

Both pictures were taken from my own photos.

Painted and then primed canvases were used as the painting ground.

Both canvases belonged to a "More Than You Can See" series - two nudes which, although newly primed, remain recognizable with the knowledge

of what lies beneath.

Technology

Before the priming, the oil-painted and well-dried nudes were

sanded down and covered with light structure paste,

resulting in a semi-transparent white veil.

The creation of this primer can be seen in the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dcYkHDtgDo
