Soft color transitions in acrylic

Violets in spring

Acrylic paint dries very quickly.

To paint a background with very soft acrylic color transitions is not that easy.

The most important is to keep the surface moist

throughout the whole working process.

In the video I show three ways how soft color transitions get done::

you make the picture surface wet with water,

the picture surface gets coated with white acrylic or

you use a drying retarder for large formats.

The distribution of the paint on the canvas is done with an as dry as possible wide brush in a criss-cross technique making the color transitions soft.

Yes, and you have to work fast …

Have fun watching the video.
